2010 Locks schedule

The Fox River Navigational System Authority is giving notice to all navigational interests that the following Fox River locks will be open for the recreational navigational season at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2010.  The operational schedule is: 

Menasha & DePere Locks (Seven day operation)

Monday – Thursday                                 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Friday – Sunday & Holidays                      8:00 a.m. – Midnight

 

Little Kaukauna Lock (Five day operation)

Thursday – Monday                                  10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Tuesday and Wednesday                          Closed

 

The four locks in Appleton and the Cedar Lock will operate for a very abbreviated 2010 navigation season.

 

The ONLY dates these locks will be open is for the following 3 Day Holiday Weekends of Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day (Saturday through Monday) from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., 2010.

 

There will also be a special weekend of operation for the Appleton Locks 1-4 and the Cedar Locks the weekend of July 24-25, 2010.  The hours of operation during this weekend will be 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

 

The Olde Oneida and Lawe Street bridges will operate in conjuction with the lock operation.

 

The schedule is: 

Appleton Locks 1 – 4 (Three day Holiday weekend operation)

Memorial, Independence and Labor Day Weekends – 

Saturday – Monday               Noon – 8:00 p.m.

Special Weekend Operation of July 24-25 - 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

 

 

Cedar Locks (Three day Holiday weekend operation)

Memorial, Independence and Labor Day Weekends – 

Saturday – Monday               Noon – 8:00 p.m. 

Special Weekend Operation of July 24-25 - 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. 

Alternating hourly travel downstream and upstream. 

Appleton Lock #1 - Downriver lockage at 10:00 a.m., noon, 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Appleton Lock #4 – Upriver lockage at 11:00 a.m.,1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Cedar Locks – (Three day operation) 

All other locks are closed for the season.

The Fox River Navigational Authority has established the following user fee schedule:

Seasonal Lockage Permit - $120.00

Daily Transit Permit (26 feet and over) - $12.00

Under 26 feet - $6.00

Fox Locks Vessel Lockage Procedures

Updated:   May, 2007

  • Upon approacing lock at a safe and slow speed, locktender will direct timing and placement of all vessels into and out of the lock chamber.
  • Personal Floatation Devices (PFD) are recommended for all passengers. Children 13 years old and younger are required by Federal Law to wear a PFD while aboard recreational vessels underway.
  • A bow and stern safety line is required for all motor powered vessels. Both safety lines must be attended at all times and are never to be tied to any vessel.
  • Passengers of recreational vessels must remain in their vessel at all times during the lockage procedures.
  • Operators should have vessel information and fee readily available to the locktender.
  • All operators must be able to control their vessel in a safe and sober manner.
  • Failure to adhere to the above quidelines may result in a refusal of lockage and/or notification of law enforcement authorities.
